Who are we
The Glen Innes Family & Youth Support Service Inc. (GIFYSS) is a community based organisation formed in 1994 to support to the Glen Innes Severn Community. Our reach is targeted at families and youths who we aim to support by providing early intervention and prevention services.
The Glen Innes Family & Youth Support Service inc. is a non-profit organisation that is registered as a Charity and managed by a Management Committee.
We are committed to providing services which:
- promote participation
- treat people with dignity and respect
- are welcoming, professional and confidential
- support you in making your own choices about your life

Family & Youth Support Program
The Family & Youth Support program offers support for families with dependent children 0-11years and youth and their families 11-17 years.
Our Family and Youth Support Program is an early intervention provides a broad range of family and youth support including:
- Advice, Information and referral
- Advocacy
- Skills Development Programs
- Parenting Programs
- Case Management
- Practical assistance
- Home visits
- Counselling or parenting support
We are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9am- 4.30pm.

Aboriginal School Readiness Program
The Aboriginal School Readiness program supports Aboriginal families with children 0-5 years.
Our aim is to assist and support Aboriginal families and their children to become school ready.
What we do:
- We assist children to attend Preschool programs
- We provide a bus service once a week to and from Preschool
- We run groups for the families to socialize and learn
- We provide information and referral
- We provide support and home visits

Budget Cooking
Hearing Test
Art classes
Visit to the Armidale Keeping Place
Traditional weaving
Aboriginal Dancing for the children

GIFYSS has offered a broad range of experiences to our service users over the years. We have supported families to engage in; Artworks in the community, going on trips out of town, community events including multi-cultural food experiences, mask making, bag making just to name a few.
